How commission rules work
Tiered rates, milestone bonuses, and how Knockt turns a deal into the exact commission owed.

Knockt's commission engine is the heart of the product. Instead of a spreadsheet formula you have to maintain, you describe how reps get paid once — and every deal runs through it automatically.
Tiered rates
Most field-sales comp is tiered: the more a rep sells in a period, the higher the rate. You define brackets by count or revenue, and each tier has its own rate. A deal is paid at the rate for the bracket the rep is currently in.
| Installs | Rate / install |
|---|---|
| 1–9 | $120 |
| 10–19Current | $150 |
| 20–and up | $185 |
Milestone bonuses
Add a one-time bonus when a rep crosses a threshold — for example, an extra $500 at their 20th install for the month. Bonuses post to the ledger as their own entry so they're clear on payroll.
Everything composes
Real plans combine pieces: tiers plus setter/closer splits plus install-based payout schedules plus clawbacks. Knockt runs them together on every deal and records each money-moving event separately.
- Setter & closer splits — credit two reps on one deal.
- Install-based & multi-trigger pay — pay on sale, on install, or split.
- How clawbacks work — automatic reversals inside your window.
Tip
Change a rate mid-month and Knockt recalculates every affected commission immediately. Want old rates to stand for past sales? Lock a plan period by date.
